General Description This unit is ideal as an Homeland
Security & Occupational Safety / radiation protection device.
It has an wide angle RED LED that will flash each time it sees a
count. A flash due to normal background radiation will occur once in about 5 minutes. This
provides a natural self test. When the radiation level reaches approximately 0.5mR*
(can be set to your requirements )
a vibrator alarm will operate when the LED flashes. As the radiation level increases
so does the flash and vibration rate (proportionally). By approximately 100mR
the LED will be continuously lit and vibrator on full time. This gives the user the
ability to know if they are going deeper into a contaminated or danger area or leaving it,
With out even taking the unit out of their pocket. When the radiation level is
normal for 2 minutes the vibrator will disable. ( A lanyard can be fastened to a
belt to prevent loss when carried in a pocket.)

warn and assist in leaving a dangerous environmental area. Allowing
the user to notify the proper authorities or department to take further action.
* The alarm point is set to 0.5mR. To be compatible
with the permitted "PUBLIC
DOSE" as defined by the NRC.
(Nuclear Regulatory Commission) and not be over sensitive, causing false alarms.
8.10.5 Public Dose
Regulations: 10 CFR 20.1301, 10 CFR 20.1302, 10 CFR 20.1003, 10 CFR
20.1801, 10 CFR 20.1802, 10 CFR 20.2107.
Criteria: Licensees must do the following:
| Ensure that fixed gauges will be used, transported, and stored in
such a way that members of the public will not receive more than 1 mSv [100 mrem] in one
year, and the dose in any unrestricted area will not exceed 0.02 mSv
[2 mrem] in any one hour, from licensed operations.

CAUTION Do not be confused
by units that alarm at high war time levels like 0.1 Rad and
higher. 0.1 RAD is 50 times the maximum public dose. See:
